9/23/2022

What better way to have fun and relax than with a new hobby.  Try one of these 5 low-cost hobbies that won’t break the bank.

Reading
Your local library is a great starting point for finding the genre that fits you the best. You can browse through hundreds of genres from how-to books all the way to fantasy novels. All you need is a library card.
TIP: Get your library card from the city you live in. Most libraries offer residents free library cards.

Meditation
All you need to pursue meditation is a quiet room and an internet connection! There are many online sources such as videos, blogs, and articles that go over the basics of meditation. There are also books on meditation that can be found at your local library. Meditation can help ground yourself and destress. Plus, you can do all of it in the comfort of your home!

Volunteer
If you have some free time on your hands, volunteering is always a great way to give back to your community. There are a wide variety of organizations and charities that offer volunteer opportunities. Volunteer Match is a great site to find local organizations and charities in your area. All you need to do is search for the area you wish to volunteer in to search for volunteer opportunities.

Game Night
A great way to spend time with friends or family while saving is to have a game night! There are many different games such as board games, story-based games, guessing games and card games. Have each player bring a game and a dish/snack to pass for fun and food. It’s a great way to learn about new games, and you can share a hobby with friends & loved ones.

Gardening
Once you have the tools and supplies you need, gardening is a very low-cost hobby. It is less costly for you to grow your own produce than to buy it at the store. You can even start small by just growing simple herbs and then moving on to fruits and vegetables.
TIP: You can get most of your gardening supplies at low-cost stores, such as dollar stores or discount grocery stores.
