Sterling Heights, Mich., (Aug 14, 2023) – In the Foundation’s second-largest grant distribution to date, the Christian Financial Credit Union Outreach & Impact Foundation awarded four grants, totaling $7,500 to four area nonprofits.

Grant recipients included:

  • Champ Life – $3,000 towards a Kids Camp for children who have experienced neglect, abandonment and abuse.
  • The Daisy Project – $2,500 towards accessible recreational spaces in metro Detroit.
  • Single Family Living – $1,000 towards educational programs and support services for single-parent families.
  • Money Matters for Youth – $1,000 towards a five-day camp to teach financial literacy skills, economics and financial responsibility to underserved youth.

“We had so many compelling grant applications during this last grant cycle, with so many amazing opportunities to partner alongside these inspiring organizations,” said Christine Quitter, director of business development and community outreach at Christian Financial. “This diverse set of nonprofits are making an impact in our community for kids and families of all kinds, fulfilling our mission and purpose in a tangible way.”

Champ Life operates a residential Kid’s Camp serving area foster children to help build self-esteem and a sense of pride and accomplishment. In its 20th year, Champ Life campers can participate in a host of activities, including horseback riding, kayaking, archery, swimming, wood shop and more. Grant funds will be used to help ensure more children can attend and enjoy the annual camp.

“Our annual kid’s camp helps children who have experienced tremendous abandonment and loss begin to feel a sense of value and worth,” said Tommy Sheerer, Pastor/Director at Champ Life. “So many children will experience hope and healing because of the Christian Financial Outreach & Impact Foundation’s generosity.”

The Daisy Project exists to help enrich the lives of families and individuals with special needs. Grant funds will be used to help make fully accessible recreational spaces in our communities so that everyone can experience play together.

Single Family Living is a non-profit that helps single parents achieve their goals by empowering, mentoring, and inspiring children from single-parent homes. Money Matters for Youth is a
Detroit-based financial literacy program for children whose mission is to teach children of all ages the basics of economics and financial responsibility through a five-day annual camp for youth. Money Matters for Youth will utilize the grant funds to support the camp and ensure more children can participate.
